Retinal Imaging
Smoking. Smoking affects the health of the blood vessels and the macula as well as causing premature age changes.
Over 40 Years of Age. The risk of developing many eye diseases significantly increases over the age of 40.
Diet. A healthy diet is essential to maintain a healthy retina; a poor intake of fruit and vegetables (particularly the green leafy types) significantly increases the risk of macula degeneration.
Vascular Problems. The eye relies on a healthy blood supply. The blood vessels within the eye are very delicate and vulnerable to change from any diseases that affect the blood or blood system.
Blue Eyes. Blue eyes have less protective pigment and so are more at risk of UV damage. We recommend using UV400 blocking sunglasses, and retinal imaging to inspect the macula area.
