PATRICK & MENZIES LEADS MOTORING AWARENESS CAMPAIGN
We’re calling on all drivers to check their vision following a recent survey revealed 10 per cent* of motorists would fail a re-take of the driving test because of poor sight. The survey also revealed 44 per cent* of all drivers do not have their eyes tested on a regular basis.
Gavin Rebello, Director, says: “In Essex there were 4995** road collisions in 2007, we want to help get these figures down. In the winter it becomes harder for us to see where we are going - especially in rush hour - when the light is either dulled or in total darkness.”
He continued: “Your eyes are essential to driving safely, most of the information you take in when driving is visual, and if your eyesight isn’t up to scratch, you could be putting yourself and other road-users at risk.”
Advanced eye tests check a motorist’s field of vision and will pick up on any problems or blind spots in the eye. Undetected blind spots can lead to a driver not being able to see what is happening at the sides of their vehicle, such as pedestrians stepping out into the road.
