CHILDREN FROM CHERNOBYL GET EYE CHECK IN BRAINTREE
Twelve children from Chernobyl received much-needed eye examinations at Patrick and Menzies in Braintree.
The children were in Essex for four weeks to get essential medical care, fresh food and clean air as part of a scheme run by the charity, Chernobyl Children’s Project UK (Mid-Essex Group). Gavin Rebello, Partner, Patrick and Menzies, explains why they decided to get involved.
“Vision plays a vital part of every waking moment, that’s why it’s incredibly important to take care of your eyes, and why we’re so pleased to help the children of Chernobyl.”
He added: “Although the Chernobyl accident happened nearly 25 years ago the radiation is increasing as the fallout continues to seep through the ground. The health affects on the young are severe. By these youngsters coming to the UK for just four weeks, and receiving good food and clean air, their fragile immune systems will be boosted and experts claim their lives will increase by two years,” says Gavin.
